An aerial ropeslide has opened to the public in Casares village. The new tourist attraction runs for 300 metres at a height of 80 metres and takes 30 seconds to complete.

Joining the El Chaparral viewpoint terrace at Puerto de la Cruz with the Las Peñuelas area of the village at the end of Calle Molinos, the scenic ride has cost just over 36,000 euros. A third of this has come from the local town hall and the rest from a regional government tourism development grant. Local residents had voted on the scheme to boost visitor numbers to the hilltop white village.

For the moment the zipline is open only on certain days. It will run on December 29th and 30th and then on January 3rd and 7th. Tickets can be bought from the Blas Infante house and cost 12 euros, with discounts for local residents and larger families.

On January 3rd admission is free to local residents. After the holidays, the new attraction will open at weekends.
