La Cala de Mijas Lions Diabetic Support Group will be holding glucose testing during the month of November to support Diabetes Awareness.
Monuments and important buildings all over the world including the Sydney Opera House, the Euromast in Rotterdam and the Tower of Pisa, will be floodlit blue on World Diabetes Day on 14 November.
The municipal buildings in La Cala de Mijas will also be lit up blue to support the movement.
The diabetes glucose testing will take place on 12 November from 11am to 12.30pm at Calahonda Baptist Church.
On 14 November it will be held from 11am until 2pm at the La Cala de Mijas town hall and the following day, at the same time, at the Las Lagunas Health Centre.
On Saturday 16 November the testing will be from 11am until 2pm at in Mijas Pueblo square.
The event finishes on Sunday 17 November with a fun walk from the Torreón La Cala de Mijas starting at 11am.
The walk will be just under three kilometres and participants are asked to meet up at the Torreón. Walkers are welcome to bring their pets and children's along.
To register for the walk, any of the testing venues will be able to supply the information and will also hand out free tee-shirts to those taking part, compliments of sponsor Atlantis PMR.
Caps and certificates will be handed out at the finishing line.
The La Cala Lions Diabetic Support Group will also have a stand at the ExPat Show held in the Hotel IPV in Fuengirola on 23 and 24 November.
