  • Musicians from the Malaga Conservatory took part in a day of music at the Hospital Materno Infantil

Malaga’s Hospital Materno Infantil was filled with music on Monday as musicians from the Malaga Higher Conservatory of Music played both classical and cinematic pieces to patients, staff and visitors alike.

This was in aid of second edition of the initiative ‘Music fills the Materno’. The scheme has been promoted by both staff at the hospital and professionals from the conservatory who believe that music not only eases the mind and stimulates the senses, but can have therapeutic properties too.

Several musicians performed simultaneously at spots around the hospital: a brass quartet, a guitar duo, and an oboe and guitar pairing performed classical pieces and scores from films in the paediatrics and maternity outpatient wards and at the main entrance to the paediatrics department.

The areas were decorated with musical motifs and the poster designed by six-year-old patient Mara.

The day’s events finished in the playroom where all of the musicians united to perform a musical story.
