Following last month's referendum, Gibraltar's new legislation allowing abortion has now come into force.

Abortions may be carried out by Gibraltar Health Authority doctors at St Bernard's Hospital in certain, tightly defined circumstances.

If, after a consultation, a woman decides to proceed with an abortion, two GHA doctors must be satisfied that the case falls within the scope of the law before the procedure can go ahead.
