Junta's 'committee of experts' meets to decide on a possible relaxation of Covid measures

The president of the regional government, Juanma Moreno, says that the data is 'improving' but the 'battle is not won'

The 'committee of experts', that advises the Junta de Andalucía on the coronavirus crisis, will meet this Tuesday (31 August) to decide whether to relax some of the coronavirus control measures.

The Advisory Council of High Impact Public Health Alerts, will analyse the more positive data of recent weeks, as the fifth wave of the pandemic appears to be under control in the region.

The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, acknowledged that the data available, so far, «indicates a significant improvement.» However, he has again called for prudence because «the battle against Covid is not won.»

The reduction in the coronavirus incidence rate in the last few weeks allows him some optimism ahead of the meeting of Covid experts. «It seems that the worst of this fifth wave is passing. We are going to see if we can move forwards and, if the data allows us, we will go to level 1,« said the president.

However, Moreno insisted that the battle against Covid «is not won» and appealed to the almost one million people in Andalucía who «due to doubts, confusion or because they are still thinking about it» have not been coronavirus jabbed: «That they get vaccinated, now that they can do it.»
