The Junta de Andalucía is planning to channel all the services and information currently offered by the regional government through several telephone numbers into a single number - 012.
Through the new number users will be able to consult all the Junta's administrative information and services that are now provided by up to 20 different numbers.
However, the emergency telephone number (112) and the one for the Salud Responde health service (955 545 060) will be maintained.
This has been announced by the regional government’s spokesman, Elías Bendodo, who has said that the rest of the numbers "will gradually disappear," although the launch date of the new 012 telephone service has not yet been revealed.
Currently, the Junta de Andalucía's telephone service and information lines operate from 8am to 8pm, from Monday to Friday, and Saturdays, from 8am to 3pm, except for national and regional holidays.
The new telephone number will operate alongside other new technology means including online chat and web forms with agents as well as unassisted methods including virtual assistants, and automated processes for obtaining appointments, simulators, calculators, and issuing reminders and proactive alerts or notices.
"The purpose of the 012 service is to offer the public a single and centralised point of contact", explained Bendodo.
And it is hoped that the use of unattended channels will also enable the Junta to speed up and improve customer service.
