Following months of uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic, Fuengirola town hall has announced that this year's Marenostrum festival will go ahead in the grounds of Sohail Castle and other locations in the town throughout the summer.

The festival will present an extensive cycle of concerts that will include classical, rock, flamenco, rap, indie and pop music.

The four-month cultural extravaganza will also see the return of several popular festivals, like Sohail Jazz (17 - 20 June), the Festival of Cabaret (2 - 4 August) and the Luna Sur Festival (5 - 8 August).

Organisers have announced the first 30 confirmed artists, which include Monica Naranjo, Miguel Poveda, Ara Malikian, Hombres G and two rescheduled concerts by Alejandro Sanz that were cancelled last year because of the pandemic.

Organisers have pointed out that more artists will be added to the schedule providing that the coronavirus pandemic does not prevent it.

All tickets will be refundable in the case of cancellation due to further restrictions and all concerts will comply to the necessary health and safety protocols.

Mayor of Fuengirola Ana Mula said: "We will vibrate again with music and secure Fuengirola as the European capital of outdoor music events. We are reinforcing our commitment to music and culture with all the guarantees of safety against Covid-19."
