After announcing the cancellation of all large-format events this summer, the cultural department of Torremolinos town hall has presented a scaled-down summer calendar of events under the banner of 'Tenemos Talento' (We Have Talent).
The programme is aimed at promoting local artists and musicians and includes more than 100 free events that will be held in various outside locations throughout July, August and September.
The season includes rock and pop concerts by bands like socialist rockers Los Copiones (4 July); ACDC tribute band TNT (10 July); 12-13 reggae band (8 August) and The Swing Girls (11 September).
There will also be classical music, flamenco fusion and jazz performed by some of the coast's top musicians. The series includes open-air cinema, dance shows, street theatre and children's puppet shows.
This year, the open-air cinema sessions will be moved from the beach to the playgrounds of the town's schools to ensure that the distances and limitations of capacity are respected.
"It is going to be a very different summer because of everything that's happened this year, but in Torremolinos there is going to be a complete cultural agenda designed for all kinds of audiences," explained councillor for Culture David Tejeiro.
