Rare classic cars come to Comares

Vehicles over 25-years-old, including Minis and Opel GTs, will travel to a number of Axarquía towns and villages this Saturday

The second Comares classic car rally will be taking place this Saturday. 65 cars will be participating in the event which is due to start at 10.30am.

Among the vehicles, all of which are over 25 years, will be a 1970 Seat 1430, a 1971 Renault 8, a Renault Alpine from 1972 and an Opel GT. The last two models of which are particularly unusual according to organisers Escudería Doble30. There are also five Minis, which will be receiving a special trophy to mark 60 years since the first of the classic British cars rolled off the assembly line.

At 10.30am the cars will start a 154-kilometre circuit around the Axarquía, taking in Vélez-Málaga, Arenas and Alfarnate. However, the full itinerary is being kept secret until the day and will be revealed to participants in the shape of a route guide which they must follow.

After lunch in Comares a further 75-kilometre route will take the cars down the mountain to sea level and back to Comares for an award ceremony at 8pm.
