An exhibition of works by a collective of international artists. The theme reflects the immigration of people by way of the Mediterranean sea, with 65,000 refugees reaching Andalucía (the most affected region in Europe) in 2018.

Cela - Picasso

The exhibition demonstrates the relationship between two geniuses, Pablo Picasso and Camilo José Cela. The exhibit consists of documents and photos symbolising the shared affinities and passions of the two friends.
The Lady of Shalott
Malaga. Until 29 February. La Casa Amarilla
Loompa Studio are exhibiting a series of works taking a new look at the Lady of Shalott by Alfred Tennyson. The exhibition reflects the medieval legend through the eyes of contemporary artists La Fiancée Slitaire, Luis Rojas, Julia Cuadrado and Víctor Ripoll.

A sculpture ‘The Tree of Life’ by Ernst Kraft is on permanent display in the gardens on the lawns next to the pond. The minimalist structure of iron rods is five metres tall and is based on the pre-pharaonic pictogram representing the union of heaven and the underworld.

The exhibition consists of 75 works covering nearly 70 years of the career of Belgian artist and printer Pierre Alechinsky. He is well known for his ability to play with humour, poetry and aesthetic and his passion for Chinese ink and antique paper.

The glass museum has has an extensive collection of glass including two glass panels that have been painstakingly restored, made by the Spanish company Mauméjean.

‘Small lives on the big screen’ is how this exhibition is described. Divided into seven sensations (happiness, anger, laughter, tears, fear, bravery and hope), fragments of film, photographs and posters are displayed including Harry Potter’s Nimbus 2000 broom and a sculpture of King Kong.
Carlos Saura Flamenco
Malaga.Until 17 May. Central Cultural La Malagueta (Malaga bull ring).
A new exhibition space has opened inside the La Malagueta bullring. The first exhibition will be of seventy-five photographs of the flamnco world of Carlos Saura. It includes a photo of Antonio Gades reading the director’s notes for Carmen (1992) while lying on a bed, Lola Flores improvising, and the flamenco master, Camarón during filming with Carlos Saura.

‘Arabian Fantasy’ is the title of a new exhibition consisting of works by Fortuny, Tapiró, Fabrés, Lameyer, Delacroix, Benjamin-Constant and Dehodencq with the common theme of Arabic life or how it was romantically depicted by artists in the 19th century.

The exhibition entitled Éxodus consists of ceramics created at the first symposium of Hispanic Russian Ceramicists in August 2018. The exhibit has previously been taken to Alhaurín de la Torre and Granada.
The Geneology Of Art

Works by Pablo Picasso, Constantin Brancusi, Paul Cézanne, Robert Delaunay, Alberto Giacometti, Juan Gris, Vasily Kandinsky, Fernand Léger, El Lissitzky, Kazimir Malevich, Franz Marc, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Piet Mondrian, Georges Braque, Paul Klee and Henry Moore are included in this exhibition entitled Genealogías del arte, o la historia del arte como arte visual.

Toulouse-Lautrec and the Circus

During a brief stay in a sanatorium, Henri Toulouse - Lautrec created 39 drawings in crayon about the circus. These works were conserved after his death by his friend Maurice Joyant and reproduced in two stages using a photographic technique in 1905 and 1931. The reproductions were bound in two folders entitled Au Cirque. A selection of these prints will be on display until June.
Teatro Cervantes exhibition

The exhibition commemorates 150 years of the Cervantes theatre in Malaga. It includes everything from signed photos by Conchita Piquer, Imperio Argentina and Lola Flores, a contract to paint the ceiling to a receipt for the hiring of a dog for an event in the 1920s as well as an autograph book containing the signatures of Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenia among many others.

The recently opend new cultural centre is dedicated to Coín-born artist Reyna Manescau, known as the Painter of Venice. The permanent exhibition of this famous painter’s work is entitled Íntimo y Universal.

An exhibition of art work and letters belonging to artist José Hernández. The artist gifted around 20 works to the town shortly before his death in 2013. He spent long periods at Molino El Tejar while creating his pieces.
