The Festival of Three Cultures in Frigiliana celebrates the peaceful co-existence of three religions (Islam, Judaism and Christianity) in the village during the Middle Ages.
The event starts on 22 August with a concert at 10pm and a firework display with lasers and animations.
The festival itself takes part in the pretty streets of the village and includes a large medieval market with stalls selling crafts, jewellery and food. There are also workshops and children's activities, a tapas route around the restaurants and bars and theatre performances and film screenings.
Around 35,000 people are expected to attend the event which goes on until Sunday 25 August.
