  • A progressive conference will address gender equality in the videogame sector

The seventh edition of Gamepolis is poised to take Malaga by storm as the videogame festival officially starts today, Friday 19 July. Already, the replica Fortnite bus, parked in the city's Plaza de la Marina and the Pokémon exhibition lining Calle Marqués de Larios has sparked excitement. The festival programme promises even more: international speakers and the chance to try out the brand new products by Nintendo, revealed recently for the first time at E3, the world-renowned videogame festival in Los Angeles.

Gamepolis starts this Friday at 11am, with a maze of exhibition stands and a programme of conferences. Eagerly awaited is the talk led by Bert Beeckman, Lead Designer, at 4pm, titled 'Remasterizando Age of Empires', and the later 7pm progressive conference on gender equality in the videogame sector, with speakers Marta Trivi, África Curiel, Paz Boris and Judit Tur.

Gamepolis-goers also look forward to a sensational progamme on Saturday, as Brenda Romero is set to speak at 6pm on the importance of emotional impact and story-telling in videogames, basing her talk on her participation in franchises Ghost Recon, Dungeons & Dragons and Def Jam.

The Cosplays Gamepolis 2019 competition and Epic Fortnite Match between YouTubers also promise to be highlights.

John Romero, creator of action videogames will take to the stage at 5pm on Sunday, before the festival celebrates its finale at 8pm, with a concert of videogame soundtacks, starring the symphonic Games Waves Band.
