An exciting new project aimed at potential young artists will be launched with a special exhibition and stage performance in Benalmádena next week.

Organised by Benalmádena town hall and Barbara Franken, a British author and 'creative visionary', The Creative Art Project will promote the work of children between the ages of six and eleven, while raising money for Conciencia Magnífica. The charity, which was founded by Franken, funds creative art projects and offers local children the chance to discover their inner self through art.

Budding young artists from Benalmádena and the surrounding towns have been involved in the project for the last 12 months and 24 of their paintings depicting the natural world will be displayed at the exhibition held at the Club de Pádel Los Caballeros in Benalmádena on Thursday 30 May.

With the theme of 'Our Magnificent World', the exhibition will also present live music, dance and sketches that will focus on inspiring young people to remember the unique and essential role they play in the natural world.

One of the paintings will be chosen as the new logo for Conciencia Magnífica, while visitors will have the opportunity to bid for some of the other work during a fundraising auction. Local businesses have donated generously to the charity raffle, and all proceeds raised at the event will aid future editions of the project, the next of which is planned for the autumn.

The event, which is free, starts at 6pm. For more information, visit www.memymagnificentself.com
