  • The show of works by the world-famous street artist opens to the general public today

Banksy. The Art of Protest today opens its doors to an expectant public in Malaga. And the cultural centre La Térmica, to the west of the city, is pulling out all the stops for its biggest show to date.

It is the first time in its six years of life that the cultural centre run by the provincial government will stay open for the whole summer. It is also the first time that an exhibition will take up three different rooms.

They host more than 40 works by the enigmatic street artist, some of which have never been shown before in Spain. They include iconic series such as the portraits of Kate Moss in the style of Warhol's Marilyn, the bulldog and a serigraph of the series Girl with Balloon.

Private collections

The Art of Protest also includes sculptures, installations, videos and photos, all on loan from international private collections and being shown in Spain for the first time.

The exhibition will run until 15 September (open Tuesdays to Sundays, from 11am to 10pm), with tickets costing between five and nine euros, plus processing fees, if purchased online.
