While the summer may be drawing to a close, there is still plenty to look forward to next month for lovers of art in the Axarquía.

In the area east of Malaga, October is punctuated by two stand-out dates: first up in the inland village of Frigiliana is the return of the Art Walk, followed at the end of the month by the seventh MAA on the coast in Almuñécar.

Frigiliana Art Walk

Following the success of the first Frigiliana Art Walk last year, organisers Maribel Martín and Brendon Taylor have brought together more than 50 artists of 11 different nationalities (including award-winning Polish painter Ula Dzwonik) to participate in a bigger event this October.

The Art Walk will take place from Friday 5 until Sunday 7 October and will run from 11am to 2pm and then from 4 to 8pm.

The exhibitions are spread across 31 shops, galleries, bars and restaurants around the town and there will be leaflets with maps showing the route available. For more information email rutadelartefrigiliana@gmail.com

Meeting Art Almuñécar

The seventh Meeting Art Almuñécar (MAA) of visual arts will take place from 15 until 21 October at the town's Casa de la Cultura with a special exhibition of the participating artists' work taking place on Saturday 20 October from 6pm.
