Three of the UK's top stand-up comedians are heading to the Costa del Sol this September. The trio will perform a series of shows on the coast, including a performance at The Boma in Alhaurín El Grande on 14 September, and shows at The Salon Variétes Theatre in Fuengirola on 15 and 16 September.
Following the success of the previous years' shows, the outrageous Dave Thompson, former Tinky Winky in the Tellytubbies children's series and cult hero on the university circuit in Britain, will return to entertain with his absurd style of stand-up comedy. Known for his quick-fire sense of humour, Dave, who was described by Timeout as 'the weirdest dude on the planet', will perform alongside Alan Francis and Kevin McCarthy.
Scottish comedian Alan Francis first came to the notice of comedy audiences when he won Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny Award in 1991. Since then his reputation has grown as a writer, stand-up comedian and actor and he has worked on television with celebrated comedian Steve Coogan. He also co-starred on The Alan Davies Show on Radio 4, which was nominated for the Best Radio Show at the 1998 British Comedy Awards.
Former HGV lorry driver Kevin McCarthy made his debut at Malcolm Hardee's notorious Tunnel Palladium Club in London. Kevin was an instant hit with the crowd, who christened him The Man with a Beard, a stage name he used for many years. Kevin has worked as a warm-up act for the Jools Holland Show and is the only comedian to perform at the annual Hells Angels Rumble in the UK, so he has cut his teeth with some of the most difficult audiences on the circuit.
Tickets for the Salon Variétes shows, which will begin at 7.30pm on Saturday and at 7pm on Sunday are available from the theatre's ticket office and website.
