Live music fans will enjoy a new season of free outdoor concerts that will take place in La Cala de Mijas throughout the summer.

'La Cala Live' is a programme of musical events organised by the foreign residents department of Mijas town hall and BigM Promotions. Taking place every Thursday night, between May and the end of September (with a break during Feria week), the programme will include regular performances of pop, rock, reggae, soul and flamenco performed by some of the coast's top entertainers.

Acts confirmed so far include The Stolen Gnomes, a local folk band; Skafeinados, a ska/reggae group, and Arte Azabache, a traditional flamenco troupe.

Others include pop duo, The Rolling Steves, an Abba tribute performed by Voulez Vous, and the coast's most popular mod, Steve Hughes, who will present his Small Faces and The Who tribute show.

Martyn Wood, director of Big M Promotions, confirmed that numerous artists and bands have already been booked to perform at the concerts, but he is hoping to add more acts to the list in order to be able to offer a varied catalogue of music throughout the summer season.

Performances will begin at 8pm each Thursday (9pm throughout July) and will be held in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, which is situated in the center of La Cala de Mijas. Ample parking is available on the fairground.

The shows, which began last week, will continue on Thursday 24 May, with Reality ES, a Santana and Fleetwood Mac tribute band.

Musicians and singers who would like to participate in the festival should contact Martyn Wood through Facebook or www.costadeldisco.com
