Riogordo's annual Passion Play (El Paso) depicting the life and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, will take place on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 March at 5pm in the village's El Paso ground. El Paso has been performed in the village since 1951 and involves hundreds of locals and actors. Tickets are 10 euros for adults and 7 euros for children and can be bought on the day outside the ground or in advance from: Rural-Andalus, Tienda cofrade Nazareno, Cerería Zalo in Malaga. This year even a short Playmobil movie has been made of El Paso, the set and characters for which were produced by Riogordo's Asociación Paleta de Colores art group.
El Paso is also recreated in the village of Istán on 29 and 30 at 5pm and 31 March at 9pm in the Polideportivo Municipal. In Moclinejo on Good Friday locals take part in a reenactment of Christ's life and in Casarabonela from this Sunday ( 25) until Tuesday (27)from 9pm in the Santiago church is a celebrated representation of 'El Pasión'. Cajiz in the Axarquía recreates scenes from the Old and New Testament on 30 and 31 March from 11.30am and Alhaurín's streets are the venue for the Passion of Christ on the same days although officially it starts on 28 March. Carratraca in the Valle del Guadalteba performs the Pasión de Cristo on 29 and 30 March.
