ARCH (Andalusian Rescue Centre for Horses) is hosting a weekend of events to raise funds for the up-keep of their centre in Alhaurín El Grande. The fundraising begins on Good Friday, when the equestrian centre, which provides shelter and rehabilitation for abandoned and ill-treated horses and donkeys, will open its doors to the public. The event, which will be held between 11am and 4pm, will give visitors the opportunity to meet the rescued horses and experience the tireless work the charity undertakes. The open day will include a fun dog show that will be judged by two local veterinary surgeons.
There will also be a charity market, music, BBQ and an Easter egg hunt for the children.
On Saturday 31 March, the centre will host the 'Ginger Pig Hoedown' an afternoon of country and western music.
The event will be held in the Ginger Pig Country Pub in Coín and will begin at 7.30 pm. Tickets cost 20 euros and will include live music and a roast chicken and BBQ spare ribs supper. DJ Dave will keep the music going with some of the best country and western hits between acts. A proportion of the funds raised will be donated to ARCH.
Tickets are available from the bar, or by phoning Janet on 628 867 980. For more information, see the Facebook page for ARCH.
