Cudeca is to host a musical memorial evening to celebrate the life of Roy Alan, a popular local expat who recently lost his battle with cancer.
The event will include a performance by the Costa Soul Singers, who will entertain with renditions of classic pop songs, one in particular, which was a favourite of Roy's. There will also be a new show by amateur theatrical group, A Touch of Class.
The show, which begins at 8pm, will be held in the Club Náutico in Benalmádena on Friday 9 March and tickets cost 10 euros. All proceeds from the night will be shared equally between Lux Mundi and the Cudeca Hospice.
Roy, who was a supporter of Lux Mundi, spent the last week of his life being cared for in the Cudeca Hospice. He was also an active member of A Touch of Class, participating in productions and writing music for the shows.
The group will be performing a brand new programme of comedy, music and dance and they will attempt for the first time their own version of the Michael Flatley's River Dance. The group has been busy practising for the past few months, although Pauline Holme, choreographer and director, claims that Roy's tremendous talents are greatly missed among the cast.
“We will always miss him. We are all hoping for a huge turnout at the concert to raise funds for two associations that were close to Roy's heart,” Pauline told SUR in English.
