The Salon Varietés Theatre in Fuengirola is to host a night of stand-up comedy on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 February. Following the success of last year's one-night event, the theatre has added another night this year to cater for the ticket demand.
Dave Thompson, former Tinky Winky of the Tellytubbies and cult hero on the university circuit in Britain, has performed his absurd style of stand-up comedy all over the world and he is returning to host the show in Fuengirola again this year.
Known for his quick-fire sense of humour, Dave, who has written material for Ronnie Corbett, Bruce Forsyth and Harry Hill, will perform alongside two other UK top comedians: Sean Meo, who has appeared on Tonight at the London Palladium, has been described as 'surreal, sexy and very, very funny and Geoff Whiting, billed as one of Britain's funniest men.
Sean Meo has been a professional stand-up comedian since the late 1980s and has since risen to the top of the UK comedy scene. He has worked alongside Clive James and Jimmy Tarbuck and appeared on many television shows, from Des O'Connor Tonight to Celebrity Squares.
At the age of 37, Geoff Whiting was living on state benefits and struggling to find employment, until he answered an advert in the Daily Telegraph for an open mike competition. He was at rock bottom with nothing to lose and after reaching the finals in 1998, Geoff's career as a stand-up was established.
Zany comedian, Dave Thompson, described by Timeout Magazine as the 'the weirdest dude on the face of the earth', told SUR in English, “Sean Meo and Geoff Whiting are brilliant performers and we are lucky have them participating in this year's show.” Tickets are available from the Salon Varietés ticket office and website.
