Estepona is to host the third edition of the Feria del Queso, an artisan cheese fair that will be held in the Parque Botánico Orquidario from today, Friday, until Sunday.

DETAILS

  • What. Cheese and dairy produce fair.

  • Where. Parque Botánico Orquidario, Estepona.

  • When. Until Sunday 17 December, from midday to 9pm.

The event is organised by the provincial government of Malaga, Estepona town hall and the award-winning ham cutter, José Maria Téllez 'Popi', who will be giving demonstrations in the art of slicing serrano ham.

Endorsed by the brand Sabor a Málaga, the fair will promote the high quality and variety of cheeses and dairy products produced by the participating companies - 80 per cent of which come from the province of Malaga.

More than 30 manufacturers will take part in the event and visitors will have the opportunity to sample a wide variety of internationally-renowned products, including fresh, cured and hard cheeses. There is a huge selection of Spanish cheeses, from the salty, dark-skinned Manchego to the mouth-tingling Cabrales blue cheese.

Although cheese will be the focus of the event, the gastronomic market will include other local products such as wine, olive oil, dried fruit, pickles, olives and Iberian pork products.

Malaga enjoys a dry, temperate climate with hot summers and mild winters, so the region boasts high quality dairy and processed pork products as well as some of the best sweet wines in Spain.
