An 'extraordinario' production of 'Peter and the Wolf' by Sergei Prokofiev will be performed by the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra and the Per Poc company on 25 November at the Teatro Canovas.
Prokofiev was commissioned by the director of the Children's Theatre in Moscow in 1936 to write a musical symphony for children with the aim of introducing them to the instruments in the orchestra. The result was this much-loved classic tale about a little boy called Peter and his animal friends with instruments of the orchestra playing each of the roles.
This production has the added delight of skilled puppeteers illustrating the action as Peter hunts the wolf.
It is narrated in Spanish but for non-Spanish speakers this shouldn't detract from the enchantment of Prokofiev's most performed work.
