The fifth Festival del Mar will be taking place on 7 and 8 October in La Herradura. The event will start with a street parade and other activities include conferences, workshops, childrens activities and talks by marine experts.

For the first time Cinemar, organised by Costamundo, a local film production company, will form part of the event. Starting at 6.30pm on 7 October, a series of programmes, documentaries and short films related to the sea and the importance of looking after marine life will be shown. There will be a programme for children and the main feature, Sonic Sea, will be presented in English. All other films will be shown in English and Spanish.

There will also be a programme of live music and paella will be served to participants during the two-day event.

The festival is organised every year through the Amigos del Mar Costa Tropical association, led by Anne Zipse, who lives in La Herradura, with the support of Almuñécar town hall.

The objective of the Festival del Mar is to make people aware of the importance of looking after our coastline and sea for this and future generations.
