Nerja will be bidding farewell to the summer on Saturday 16 September with the second Chanquete World Music Festival, with bands from as far afield as Bosnia and Cuba, as well as a number of well-known, homegrown artists.
This year sees a second stage being added to the event, which sold a record number of tickets last year.
Highlights this year include the Bosnian group, Dubioza Kolektiv, described as having a “fresh take on hip-hop, reggae, dub, rock and Bosnian folklore” and who are in Nerja as part of their 2017 European tour.
Cuban hip-hop group Orishas are also performing at the Chanquete festival as a European tour of their own.
Well-known Spanish artists, including Malaka Youth, La Mala Rodríguez and El Canijo de Jerez will also be performing.
In total, 16 bands form the lineup for Chanquete, which will be taking over Nerja’s El Playazo beach to the west of the town.
Gates open at 4pm and tickets can be bought on the day for 35 euros, or beforehand online, or from distribution points in Nerja, Malaga and Granada, for 28 euros
Official buses are being organised from departure points in Malaga, Torre del Mar, Vélez-Málaga and Granada, as well as other cities in Andalucía.
