This popular festival is one of the biggest gatherings of 'bears' in Spain and the event is attended by people from all over Europe. Last year’s festival attracted more than 6,000 visitors and organisers are expecting this year’s event to be even bigger.
The festival got under way on Wednesday and runs until 16 August. It is organised by the Madrid-based group, Mad.Bear, and Torremolinos town hall. The event is sponsored by the Hotel Ritual - the first hotel aimed solely at the gay community - who will also be hosting special events during the proceedings.
The seven-day festival will welcome some of the most celebrated national and international DJs, who will perform at organised beach parties during the day, and nightly ‘anything goes’ events at the town’s gay clubs in La Nogalera.
The festival will also include the Mr Mad Bear 2017 competition, which will be held in the Eden Bar on Bajondillo beach.
A list of all participating venues, programme of events and ticket prices are available from the Mad Bear Facebook page, or the website of the Hotel Ritual.
