  • An effigy of the artist, created by Eugenio Moreno to show how the figure of Picasso has been exploited in Malaga, is on display at the Alianza Francesa until 28 July

The Alianza Francesa building in Malaga is the temporary custodian of an eerily lifelike sculpture of Pablo Ruíz Picasso. The sculpture is life size and is dressed in the striped white and navy jumper which became his trademark attire.

The effigy was created by artist Eugenio Moreno who aimed to show how the figure of Picasso has been exploited in Malaga, and how he has become another ‘souvenir’ of Malaga.

This isn’t the first sculpture of a body that the artist has created. In 2012 his work ‘Always Franco’ was shown at the Feria de Arco. It was a life-sized replica of General Franco inside a fridge.
