Fuengirola Pop festival has taken place every year since 2007, and every year is supposed to be the last. However, this year, thanks to the fundraising music fans, the alternative festival will celebrate its tenth anniversary in style by welcoming The Beach Boys to headline at the Sohail castle.
The combined efforts of FuengiPop association, the driving force behind the event, and the event’s promoter, Bemusic, are responsible for securing the legendary Californian band, who will perform on Saturday 24 June.
The following night, La Casa Azul, a prolific Spanish electropop band, will also headline at the castle after years of the festival trying to secure them.
In total, 15 local and international bands will perform at the event.
Andalusian bands, Los Amebas, Hawaii Five and The Smoggers will be joined by New York’s Paul Collins and Madrid’s Imperial Surfers.
The Sohail castle will only host the headliners. The Pogs pub, in the centre of Fuengirola, will be the venue for the majority of the performances, with the action continuing at Las Palmeras Hotel from midnight onwards.
This year the festival, which will take place from Thursday 22 June to Sunday 25 June, is expected to produce a cocktail of pop, rock, punk pop, garage, surf and soul.
