Torremolinos is to celebrate St Patrick's Day in the Plaza de la Nogalera on Saturday 18 March.

A traditional party has been organised by the Irish Association of Spain and the cultural department of the Torremolinos town hall.

This will be the first time Torremolinos has officially celebrated the Apostle of Ireland, and organisers have pulled out all the stops to ensure it will now continue to be a regular event.

The party, which will commence at midday and continue until 6pm, will include performances by the Celtic Dancers, who will deliver a repertoire of Irish folk dances. The event will also feature a wide selection of bands, dancers, singers and artists.

There will also be children's entertainment and prizes for the best dressed party-goers.

Visitors will be able sample good old-fashioned Irish stew, as well as beef burgers, hotdogs and Coddle, a traditional stew of sausages, pork and bacon, normally found only in Dublin.

Of course, a bar will be erected in the square so revelers can enjoy a glass or two of Guinness.
