From Saturday the Museo de los Gálvez in Macharaviaya will once again be open to the public. The inaugural exhibition is a collection of 31 portraits of women by the artists Pablo Picasso and Alfredo Opisso.

The museum also offers the opportunity to learn about the Gálvez family and the connections that Macharaviaya still has with the city of Pensacola in Florida, where the town's 'son', Bernardo de Gálvez led the Battle of Pensacola during the US War of Independence against Britain, including a collection of original stamps and envelopes which were used in correspondence by the Gálvez family, as well as a Playmobil representation of a play about the battle and other artefacts.
