The 32nd international guitar competition held every year in La Herradura will this year be marking the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Andrés Segovia, arguably Spain's most famous classical guitarist. The event will take place from 17 until 21 January at the town's civic centre.
The competition is open to guitarists under the age of 35 and involves a series of 'rounds' for contestants, the first of which will take place at 1pm on 17 January. All concerts are open to the public.
Among a number of prizes, the runner-up will receive a guitar, worth 3,250 euros, hand-made by British classical guitar-maker Stephen Hill, who lives and works in the town.
