Having been bogged down by too many draws this season (almost half of their games played so far), on this occasion Marbella were happy to take a point from a goalless draw.

The Costa side welcomed Algeciras on Sunday having been on a poor run of form and had to play more than half the game having gone down to ten men after a highly controversial red card.

The non-eventful opening 45 minutes took a dramatic turn just before half time when Alfred Planas received his marching orders following a clash with opposition keeper Guille Vallejo. While it seemed obvious that the referee would give the decision in favour of Marbella, red was eventually produced for Planas on the insistence of the linesman.

Algeciras smelled blood in the second half and they had two almost identical chances to score, with Telis and Ubis both hitting the left-hand post following corners.

However, Marbella were the team pushing for the breakthrough in the closing stages but couldn't quite get the better of the resolute Algeciras defence.
