Two weeks before the start of the season, Sergio Pellicer's position was strengthened as he was officially named Malaga head coach, signing a contract until the end of the season, with an option for a further year.
This decision was made some time ago but has only now been made public by the club.
Pellicer, who was promoted from the reserve team, Atlético Malagueño, after the sacking of Víctor Sánchez del Amo, knows the club inside out, having played for Malaga during the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons.
He went on to make history as a youth coach, reaching the Copa de Campeones de España in the 2015-16 season and taking part in the UEFA Youth League the following year.
