The lawyers representing Sheikh Al-Thani this week launched an incredible attack on both the investigating judge in the case brought forward by the Minority Shareholders Association, María de los Ángeles Ruiz González, and the judicial administrator she installed, José María Muñoz.

The offices of Baker McKenzie, headed by Jesús Santos, responded to the first report published by Muñoz on the state of the club by suggesting it was "an open secret" that Muñoz had planned to lead the club to insolvency so that it could be "sold to the most convenient buyer with no regard for the current owner, who invested a huge amount of money in it".

The statement went on to describe Ruiz González placing the club in administration as "inappropriate" and "a mere instrument to expel its legitimate owner from the club".

A response to these comments is unlikely.
