It was far from unexpected but Malaga confirmed on Tuesday that Sergio Pellicer, who has been in charge for the last seven games on an interim basis, has been confirmed as permanent head coach.
Pellicer, who was promoted from the reserve team, Atlético Malagueño, after the sacking of Víctor Sánchez del Amo, has led the side to 14 points from the 21 available. The 46-year-old, alongside his technical staff, have signed deals until the end of the current season.
The coach knows the club inside out, having played for Malaga during the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons. He went on to make history as a youth coach, reaching the Copa de Campeones de España in the 2015-16 season and taking part in the UEFA Youth League the following year.
