The sixty-sixth edition of the Vuelta a Andalucía is stirring greater interest than ever before with an impressive line-up already confirmed for the tour which runs from 19 to 23 February.
Wednesday 19th. Alhaurín de la Torre-Grazalema (173.9 kilometres).
Thursday 20th. Seville-Iznájar (198.7 km).
Friday 21st. Jaén-Úbeda (175.9 km).
Saturday 22nd. Villanueva Mesía-Granada (126 km).
Sunday 23rd. Mijas (13 km).
This is because this year the Vuelta a Andalucía has been promoted to a UCI ProSeries event. Therefore, with higher world ranking points up for grabs, teams have, in the words of organiser Joaquín Cuevas, "greater choice", with the race having more "appeal".
As a result, the likes of Enric Mas and Marc Soler (Movistar), defending champion Jacob Fuglsang (Astana), Steven Kruijswijk (Jumbo) and Mikel Landa (Bahrain) will be flocking to southern Spain for the event which gets under way with a stage running from Alhaurín de la Torre to Grazalema next Wednesday and ends with a short 13-kilometre stage in Mijas next Sunday.
