Malaga's sporting director, Manolo Gaspar, offered an extensive press conference last Thursday in which he gave a detailed take on all of the club's activities during the winter transfer window.

"My evaluation is positive," he said. "We couldn't have done any more with what we had. I'm happy."

After six departures (Hugo Vallejo, Keko, José Rodríguez, Iván, Lorenzo and Álex Mula) and two arrivals (Sergio Buenacasa and Tete Morente), the club raised one million euros - still short of the two million required.

With La Liga introducing stricter rules on salary cap infractions next season, Gaspar warned that a lot of work still needed to be done "not only on the sporting side".

Director general Richard Shaheen for his part said that the club was "more stable than five months ago" and that there were still more business decisions that could be taken to increase revenue.
