  • Malaga's women's team were dominant and unlucky not to win against Albacete on Saturday

Last year this was a top-flight fixture. Saturday's meeting between Malaga and Albacete felt like one too with an entertaining clash punctuated by plenty of goals.

On the day, Malaga were the dominant side but were guilty of showing a lack of concentration and this is what allowed Albacete to take the lead in the 15th minute. First, Pomares was allowed the freedom of the park to skip through midfield and get her shot away; then, when Noelia Gil spilled the effort, no Malaga player reacted fast enough to prevent Pauleta steering home the rebound.

The hosts reacted quickly, however, when Ayano headed home Adriana's free-kick.

Malaga's domination continued into the second half when they finally took the lead when Claudia scored direct from a corner. Their joy was shortlived, though, as yet another defensive mix-up allowed Carmen in to score.

There were chances at both ends in the closing exchanges but it will no doubt have been Malaga who felt they deserved the win most at full time.
