Marbella picked up another three points with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cadiz B at the Estadio Ramón Blanco on Sunday.

The Costa del Sol outfit hit the post in the opening minutes of the game, before Cadiz went up the other end of the field, where Manuel Nieto hit a close-range shot which Marbella keeper Wilfred managed to keep out.

Marbella put themselves in front with just over 20 minutes gone, Manel getting on the end of a good ball in from Samu Delgado from the right to head home.

After this point, Cadiz largely dominated the ball, while Marbella were happy to allow their defence to soak up the pressure. Manel, a constant thorn in the hosts side, could have got his second from one such breakaway move, but the counter-attack ultimately broke down.

Cadiz began to create more chances after manager Juanma Pavón decided to shuffle the pack with around an hour gone, with Iván Chapela and Mbaye both seeing decent chances.

In the last few minutes, the pressure mounted on the visitors, and both Carlos Cobo and Saturday Erimuya missed opportunities to level matters.

Ultimately, though, Marbella were solid enough in defence for one goal to be enough, and Sundays victory leaves them three points off leaders Cartagena.
