  • Saturday’s victory over Levante B capped capped off a month in which Malaga went unbeaten, taking 11 points from a possible 15

Malaga Femenino picked up three points from their visit to Levante B on Saturday, and could easily have returned to the Costa del Sol with a far better goal difference than their 2-1 victory gave them.

Although the visitors were the superior team for more or less the entire game, it was Levante who took the lead, when Ana beat a helpless Noelia with an effort from the edge of the box shortly before the 20 minute mark.

Malaga got themselves back into the game when Arantxa beat Ángela with a well-struck free kick. Just two minutes later, the comeback was complete, as Adriana fired another wonderful effort past the Valencian keeper.

Malaga went into break with a well-earned lead, and they looked to increase their advantage after the interval. They were by far the better team in the second half, controlling possession and creating several clear-cut chances.

Adriana nearly got her second of the game, but hit the crossbar, while Edna almost got on the scoresheet as well when she headed an Encarni cross narrowly over the bar with minutes to go.

Saturday’s was an impressive performance, and the necessary reaction to a draw at Cordoba the previous matchday where the visitors deserved more.

Malaga now find themselves fifth in the Segunda División Femenina Sur, level on points with Cordoba in sixth place and two behind Villarreal in fourth. In their next fixture, they host Juan Grande on Saturday.

They will be hoping they can carry their fine November form, which saw them undefeated in five games and picking up 11 from a possible 15 points.
