After defeating high-flying Villarreal last weekend, Malaga's womens team saw their momentum stalled as they were held to a 0-0 draw by minnows Collerense on Sunday.

Although the visitors worked hard and did have opportunities, they found it hard to break down a determined and well-organised defence. Malaga struggled to connect between the lines, with the small size and poor condition of the pitch complicating matters.

They had some joy from long balls with Postigo, who was assured throughout, putting Edna through on goal after 20 minutes, only for Collerense keeper María to deny the forward her first official goal for the Blue and Whites.

Buceta also came very close in the first half, as she sent an effort from the halfway line just over the bar after spotting the keeper off her line.

Malaga were even more determined to take the lead after the interval and Adriana came agonisingly close to doing so on the hour mark, when she hit the bar.

José Herrera sent on Arantxa and Cintia for the visitors, and Collerense had to withstand a real barrage from the visitors during the last stretch of the game.

Adriana had several more efforts and María Ruiz tried her luck in added time, but María was able to keep all of them out.

No-one could fault Malagas effort; they were only kept out by wonderful goalkeeping and all-round solid defensive display.
