  • Player donations, raffles and an auction raised the impressive figure, which will help Elena and her family

Walking Football Spain joined Smiles WFC in travelling to La Viñuela for a fundraising tournament to help a local young family who have had a difficult year.

The matches were very competitive with Smiles set on remaining number one on the Costa. However it was the WFC 1 team lifting the Copa de Elena and establishing WFC as number one on the Costa again by winning all four of their matches.

Aston Viñuela WFC, Smiles 2 and WFS2 made sure the 'big boys' didn't have it easy.

At the end of the day the real winners were Elena, who has cancer and is still receiving treatment, her husband Francisco and their young boys who received a cheque for 2,840 euros thanks to player donations, raffles and an auction and an impressive local support.

New league starting

After a brief meeting between the club officials present at the tournament the Blue Sky Marbella Walking Football League was launched with a prospective start some time in November.

All the teams involved are full of enthusiasm for this league as it will be the only Walking Football league in the south of Spain.
