Malaga's women's team picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, beating hosts Cáceres by two goals to one.

Cáceres, victorious in their two home games until then, went behind in the 19th minute. In what was the first clear chance of the game, Edna headed home Adriana's freekick to the back post.

The hosts' first chance also came from a set piece but a defender got in the way to block María Jesús who had found space from a corner.

Malaga then took control of the game with Cáceres unable to put five passes together. However, just before half time, they were thrown a lifeline; Olmedo gave away a penalty which was duly converted by Ali.

If the first half was low on chances, the second half was almost barren. With a multitude of changes and breaks in play, opportunities were at a premium. So when Adriana was sent clean through on goal by Noelia's long ball, the captain knew she had to take her chance. She tucked the ball past Tatiana to seal all three points and give her side some breathing space above the drop zone.
