Marbella came away with just a point from Sunday's clash against perennial promotion rivals Cartagena - a game marked by the early sending off of Mustafá.
The winger received his marching orders in the 22nd minute. "He give him a little kick," was the verdict of the officials who had to consult one another (overheard by photographers two metres away) after the animated protests of Cartagena goalkeeper Marc Martínez.
The decision left the home players and fans incensed as the decision changed the outlook of the game entirely.
The referee, clearly rattled by the incident, punished subsequent Cartagena fouls with yellow cards, disrupting the rhythm of the game as a result. Despite their numerical advantage, only two long-range strikes from Yaimal, none of which troubled Wilfred, came remotely close to goal.
Araujo was introduced for the visiting side in the second half and he had the ball in the net, only for it to be chalked off for offside.
Injuries in defence for Marbella, then a second yellow card for Cartagena's Carlos David further limited both sides' ambition. That said, there were still late chances at each end for Paulo Vítor and Caballero in the opposing penalty areas but both lacked the conviction to take all three points for their respective sides.
