Walking footballers to raise funds for young family in La Viñuela

  • The tournament is being hosted by local team Aston Viñuela WFC who are raising money to help a young local family who run the Kiosk on the Corner Bar

La Viñuela will next Wednesday, 2 October, play host to a special fundraising walking football tournament in which several Costa-based teams will compete.

Walking Football Spain will send a contingent, as will Smiles WFC (two teams) and The Walking Dead (two teams), both from Calahonda.

The tournament is being hosted by local team Aston Viñuela WFC who are raising money to help a young local family who run the Kiosk on the Corner Bar. The young mother is recovering from breast cancer and is still receiving treatment. With two young sons to care for it has been a difficult year for the family and Viñuela WFC have organised raffles, an auction (including a Geoff Hurst England Legend football shirt) and other fund raisers which will take place at the after match buffet.

Smiles will be out to retain their title as the Costa del Sol's 'top dogs' when the event kicks off at 6pm. It will take place as Campo Viñuela (next to the lake) and spectators are welcome.

Donations will be gratefully received by contacting info@walkingfootballspain.com or Gray Salt on Facebook.

At the after match reception there will be a presentation launch of Spain's first Walking Football League which will feature the aforementioned teams, sponsored by Blue Sky Real Estate in Marbella.
