Collin Richards, the man who pleaded guilty to the murder of Cantabrian golfer Celia Barquín, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The 22-year-old had initially pleaded not guilty, but after admitting the crime, at a pretrial hearing in September, he will not be eligible for parole.
Richards has been sentenced to life without parole after admitting he murdered the golfer. "My heart goes out to Celia's family today in the hope that this outcome will provide them with some level of comfort. This tragic crime is something that has touched and saddened us all," county prosecutor Jessica Reynolds said in a statement.
Barquín's body was found at the Coldwater Links golf course in Ames, US, in September 2018.
