Local tennis star Alejandro Davidovich's career reached a new high this week as the 19-year-old qualified for the main draw of an ATP 250 event for the first time.

Davidovich, from Rincón de la Victoria, cruised through qualifiers for the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca (Morocco) but the experience of veteran Philipp Kohlschreiber told in the round of 32 and the German ran out winner on Tuesday, 7-6 7-5.

There was better luck for his compatriot Adrián Menéndez, who went one step further, beating Fernando Verdasco 5-7 6-2 6-2, also on Tuesday.

However, the more experienced player from Marbella eventually came unstuck on Wednesday, losing to Japan's Taro Daniel, 6-2 1-6 6-1.
