The situation at the bottom of the Liga Iberdola could not be tighter, but it is Malaga who join Sevilla in the relegation spots after match day 21 after failing to gain ground on any of their relegation rivals, following two 1-1 draws in the space of a week - both in so-called 'six-pointers'.

On Sunday, Malaga Femenino secured a 1-1 draw away to Espanyol. The hosts, with Salvador Jaspe in the dugout for the first time, took the lead six minutes before half time after a total breakdown in communication between Malaga keeper Chelsea and one of her defenders allowed Eli del Estal in to score.

Just after the break Malaga got the equaliser they were looking for as Ode headed in Dominika's cross.

The script was practically repeated on Wednesday afternoon as Malaga hosted Logroño. The visitors took the lead in the first half through Jade Boho, but Leti scored in the 49th minute to level things up.

But despite being the better side in the second half, the visitors were unable to find the winner that would have lifted them out of the relegation.

The two results, in truth, benefited no one as just two points separate bottom side Sevilla and Albacete in 10th.
