It was supposed to be the easiest game of their Christmas run-in but defeat for Malaga Femenino against Sporting Huelva further demonstrated that the Liga Iberdrola is full of surprises.

With this third consecutive defeat (2-0 away) on Sunday, the Blue and Whites have fallen a further place, down to 13th, with only their fellow Andalusians, Madrid CF and Sevilla below them (the latter two suffered heavy defeats).

Malaga's next match is on Sunday, away to Albacete whose striker Alba Redondo just topped the goalscoring charts having racked up her tenth goal of the season in their home loss to Granadilla de Tenerife.

At the top remain Atlético but Barcelona are just a point behind.
