Marbella deserved a lot more from their trip to Cadiz on Sunday as they took on the division's surprise package, San Fernando. But for a lack of conviction in attack and two errors at the back, Padilla's side could have come away with a win. However, the reality is that Marbella occupy one of the relegation spots, having fallen to their sixth defeat of the season.
The game started well for the Costa del Sol side , however, with Juanma missing his header from Peris' cross in the third minute, before Jürgen passed up a clear chance of his own.
San Bernardo keeper Rubén Gálvez's gloves were kept warm in the 35th minute when he kept out Elías Pérez's freekick at the second time of asking.
The first half ended with the feeling that all would be decided in the second 45, and so it proved.
Just five minutes in and Marbella were behind. Diego Simón's throw-in was flicked on by Pau Franch and a sleepy Marbella defender allowed Pedro Ríos to latch onto the ball and give his side the lead.
Just five minutes later in an almost identical scenario, the former Getafe man doubled his tally, giving the visitors an enormous mountain to climb.
Marbella had their chances, though. They could have got a goal back in the 67th minute but Colo came to the rescue to clear off the line. A minute later an overhead kick from Elías Pérez couldn't trouble a defence who have now not conceded in 390 minutes.
Marbella receive Recreativo Huelva on Sunday (4.30pm kick-off).
